These pictures are fairly old, i just rediscovered them. A few hot boats that were at Lake Berryessa. Dragboats are my absolute favorite thing to take pictures of. There were a few at the lake messing around which gave me a unique opportunity to get up close with them. I could have spent all day taking pictures of them but unfortunately they were only around for a short period of time. Cant wait to get my own boat to photograph!!

Very nice! Those are nothing but floating engines. There are boat races near me each year. I missed them last year but planning to get some photos this time! Thanks for sharing.

They truely are insane! You will not regret your choice to go check them out, especially if there are Top Fuel in attendance. what race is near you?? Unfortunately the race nearest me (Red Bluff) has been canceled

Its the Crystal Coast Super Boat Grand Prix held in September. Right down the street from where I live. Morehead City, North Carolina and it takes place in the Pamlico Sound. Was out of town the last couple years but I want to make it a point to get there this year. I'm not familiar with all the different classes of racers but folks say they can hear them for miles.

There is some info on the web if you use the above to search.

Thats awesome, ya i checked out their site and it looks like an offshore ocean race. I've always wanted to go to one of those too! Im pretty sure they often have dragboat races at High Point, NC. You should look into that!

Nope, they were running too far off shore, unfortunately at the time i only had my kit lens.. But i have plenty of "in motion" shots on my website from actual drag boat races!

I've ridden my motorcycle, literally hundreds of times, and I'd never seen those boats out there.

Ya i dont think they are very common out there, but that weekend was deemed the "hot boat" weekend. I believe it's just an unofficial gathering for people with bad ass boats!!

Ya it's a gorgeous boat, i saw it recently and it now has a blown big block, running in the 8 second class. Thing is mean!

Im only about an hour from CFW when im at college (Chico State) and about two hours from it when im at home. Havent made it up there yet but i wanna head up sometime soon. Do they do any sort of hot boat meet up there??

It's amazing how these boats dont roll over just with the amount of torque those engine produce, let alone float with the weight. Nice shots

No set ihba meets or anything, no TA or pro mod. Just a bunch of backyard guys with bad boats. Lol. A few blown boats. A lot of big blocks.
