Grandkids were just over for a weekend stay. Soon were sick of me chasing them around with the camera, of course.

Finally my 30D and Tamron 17-35 arrived. And finally I had time to read the manual and take some shots. First shots of course were of the nearest grandbaby.

You had a Rebel series before? This was taken mid June of '06 just after Ellie began to crawl. She had been immobile since birth late March of '05. Quite happy to be moving. She does look happy. She's so grown up now!

Thank you Sunnygirl for the nice comment -- Here's one more taken with my newest lens addition (17-55IS 2.8), This one is taken outside Sorry for the background being "blown-out" but her expressiion of "grampa-- are we done with this photo nonsense yet??!! " I just had to rescue this expression. The "looks" you get from newborns are so fascinating-- makes you wonder what is going thru those new little minds??

Maybe I should leave the WB in auto for a while.... It's so hard because now I have to look at crappy pictures while trying to learn... so sad... hmmmh What camera are you using? If, for instance, it's the 40D, did you have the ISO set to auto? If so, it will select the ISO that it thinks is correct for the circumstances. I'm not sure what the WB has to do with it!

I kinda remember setting everything myself and getting all twittered when it wasn't turning out, so I may have bumped the iso up. I think I will leave the ISO and WB on auto (would that still be considered manual though...hmmh...oh well) and practice on maybe some flowers and the such. LOL maybe then I won't get so anxious. This means that, in low light, it will increase the ISO to suit. So it may be that you didn't alter the ISO setting - the camera did it.
