Hi Everyone,

I received my new Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS yesterday and have a review of my first impressions along with some sample photographs on my blog (external link) on www.georgelowther.co.uk (external link). I hope you enjoy reading it, and find it interesting!

Comments and feedback are welcome :)

*Yawn* Another 70-200 2.8IS review? Aren't there like, 145932 other reviews out there? :D

Haha, jokes, sorry. I like your reviews and photographs. The chain shot and bokeh lights was.. something I would've never thought about, really.

Images produced by the lens not only need less work done on them after shooting, but they also take additional processing very well. I especially like the strong contrasts between the sharp area and blurred foreground.

I agree fully to what you said about the above. The 7-2 2.8IS takes sharpening very well, and the contrast (when you're not pointing into the sun) is so good already. I find that my standard RAW conversion for the lens will be +12 vibrancy and a contrast value of 20 (opposed to the normal 25) in Lightroom 2.

Cheers for the effort, nice review =)

Edit: Just in case potential buyers want to look at the lens, here's 2 photographs of my copy of the lens.
