Aussie photographers - r u a member of AIPP?

Hi. Im about to join the australian AIPP .

id love to know if anyone here is a member. (probally plenty of u)

id like to know what obvious benefits u actually get from the membership?

or is it just about status? as it makes you look more serious / professional?

also - u geta card as well that they say helps u be identified in public events as a photographer official ...

is thuis the case? has it really helped in anyway?

MEAA - is a union and if you are a photojournalist you can join, there are some benefits in being a member especially useful for advocacy, information and networking. It's not just for photographers - check them out at http://www.alliance.org.au/ (external link)

ACMP - www.acmp.com.au (external link) is an association for commercial and media photographers - it's a lot smaller than the AIPP - I have found some benefits from being a member again for information and networking.

AIPP is a major and well respected Association.

I doubt their pass will mean much if anything though. If you are wanting to photograph sporting events or concerts or other organised events you need a photo pass from the event.
