Thanks for all of the comments. Lucky for me, I can use flash (photographing 5 year olds and 10 year olds) so I guess I will just keep working with what I have. I did say that I was going shoot half the game without the flash to see how I like the pics. Will post some from tomorrow if anyone is interested. I printed the pics and they came out quite nice.

Thanks again for all of the suggestions!

Is #15 yours? If so, that first one should be hanging up on your wall. If not, his parents should have that hanging up on their wall. in other words, priceless shot of the little dude.

Use a higher ASA and go to the H or 3200 setting without the flash and the 1.8 lense. Then you should be able to go higher on the shudder speed. I would think with slower action of the smaller kids you should be able to shoot some at 200 shudder speed. I do High Shool basketball sometimes at 200 and 250 shudder 1600ASA with a 70-200 2.8L no flash and get some good stuff. I used the 3200 setting before I got the faster 2.8L, but the 1.8 should give good results without the flash. Some noise with the higher ASA, but not noticable to the average person even enlarged to 8x10 size.

Thanks DDCSD, he's mine and he's a keeper :). Thanks, I love that shot too. I always take one picture from each sport season and make a 16x20 or 16x24 poster to put on their wall and that one just might make it.

Grizdfilm, I was kind of afraid to use 3200 ISO but I will give it a try on Saturday. The little one has the flu this week so he might not make the game on Saturday.

Hey Dennis, Big Thanks again!;) I tried your advice off your podcast and used direct flash off the little bounce card and it worked quite nicely. Alot of them really "pop"! What a great action-stopping technique which also eliminates many lighting issues! I can't wait to use it again, Thanks!bw!
