Was muddling about in a local electronics store yesterday. I own an XTi and, out of curiosity I picked up and looked through a display model of the 50D and was pleasantly surprised by the nice bright viewfinder image, easy to read display in the viewfinder, too. Much like my 35mm film cameras were.

"Oh! They have the 5D here, too!", I commented as I set the 50D down and picked up the 5D.

I looked through the viewfinder of the 5D and, HOLY CRAP!!! What an incredible view! Now all I have to do is come up with $2,500.

The images you can actually take are rather insane as well! :)

BTW: I'll drop this here, I was at work today in the zoo and some slightly deranged woman started having a go at me because I was taking pictures of Max the Owl, on account of this stealing Max's soul

I kid you not, she didn't even seem like one of the animal rights nutters we usually get; just someone who was simply completely insane. We had to call the police when she lost the plot completely and burst into hysterical tears for no apparent reason, and hurling abuse at my colleagues:

IMAGE: http://s2.b3ta.com/host/creative/9805/1232837575/nutter.jpg
This is her equally deranged boyfriend 'shielding her' from police brutality; at this stage I was laughing to hard to hold the camera still

The bloke in the background's expression says it all

Max the Owl is soulless now, all thanks to you.

Actually, I think there are some cultures that do believe photographs steal souls. Might wanna google that.

It's TOTALLY worth it :D. Not only when you look through the viewfinder, but when you download and look at those gorgeous FF images too.

I hope they lock that lady up for life. Good grief, if the truth gets out and people find out about my collection of souls, I'm in deep doo-doo.

Heck, the best viewfinder I've used is my Minolta X-370 film body (free from my father in law)...it's bigger than even the 1DsIII's VF. (And even the old OM-1 VF is bigger than that).

Look through viewfinder of old film camera and you will be amazed more. Surprising that old film camera used to have bigger/brigter viewfinders compared to latest FF dSLRs.
