I happened across one of my shoots earlier this year with the 1D3 and the 70-200 f/2.8 IS, where, as day turned to evening, my settings got what for me was extreme. Well, I can't complain -- here's samples at ISO 3200, f/2.8, 1/800:

well! well! difficult decision, i'm looking for this camera or a 1D2. I have an opportunity for a 1D3 at 3,000CDN, but have to sell my 5D +24-105, which I really love.

The 1D3 is certainly an amazing camera even when considering its age. :D

The main problem with this type of high class cameras is that often, for their high costs, are used by professionals, then we must be careful to find a less used, well kept.
Perhaps could be better buy a similar model from some rich photoamateurs ... or some serious retailer that offers some kind of warranty even on used camera.

Note:
Now i will read the all topic started by Perry Ge.

Ha ha, I find this thread funny. Perry starts of calling the 1D MKIII his best camera ever. Then I look at his gear list and it is nowhere to be found, and all that remains is the "lowly" 5D. I then do a search to see that he sold it 3 months after this post. I guess the honemoon period wore off

I stand by my claim that it's the best camera I've ever used by far. But quite simply, I don't need that kind of crazy-ass camera. I take my sweet time when I shoot, and I realized that I like simplicity. I use my old mechanical Canonet rangefinder as much as my 5D, and I am eyeing the new Olympus E-Pen lovingly.

I don't know Perry, but I admire him for his flexibility in moving in and out of kit. I enjoy buying and experimenting but I'm very poor at selling and turning what I don't need into something more useful, or cash. If I had the cash. I'd just buy something else! It burns a hole in my pocket.

I think a lot of it is a function of the excellent used market in Toronto too, makes it easy to buy and sell. I haven't bought anything since I bought the 50L a few months ago though. Really, a camera, a 50mm lens...I almost never need more, but the stuff that is still in my bag is certainly there for a reason.

Perry is the reason I bought a 5D, and he's also the reason I'm about to buy a 1D Mark III.
