My local camera store [And camera salesperson] actually likes to TAUNT me...

One time I had come in to pick up something small and he goes over and brings me a Nikon F4 and a 20mm f/2.8 [A camera he KNOWS I've always wanted to see and play with]

To make it worse, the kit was $500...for a Nikon F4 and a 20mm f/2.8 AF-Nikkor...and even worse the F4 was as amazing as I imagined it to be :(

Sadly I shoot digital now, and I shoot Canon...or else it would have been sold...

I've played with most lenses in that store, and cameras

My first time in there was years ago buying my first camera, and i remember gawking at and staring at a Nikon F100 with a 28-80 f/2.8 on it, And then when I asked what it was, he just handed it to me and said "Have fun" to a 15 year old, that was...nerve racking to say the least [At the time, that setup was almost $3k]

^ Oh god my local store taunts me too. They CALLED me last week to tell me about the kinds of sweet stuff that people traded in, and the sweet prices they were offering - stuff that they knew I wanted.

To the OP: get the 85L :p. It's worth it. It's the only thing keeping me with Canon right now.

Everytime I go to the camera store, there are so many lenses I want. Just adding up the cost hurts a lot. I start to narrow the list down to the lenses I need, but it is so hard to decide that I usually end up getting nothing.

I went to best buy early last week and they had a 24-105mm f/4 L lens in the case so I asked the guy if he could mount it on a XTi body and thats all it took... After holding it and using it for a few min. it was over, thats my lens...
The next day I ordered one...

You were weak and fell victim to a retailers great sales technique. There's a camera store that I frequent when I'm in downtown Chicago (Calumet) that has every Canon lens on display. I've resisted even touching the lens because I know I won't be thinking rationally. You might as well buy it now.

I was planing to but a FF, 16-35, 85 1.2 in that order this year. Now I changed my plan, I want the 85 1.2 first.

The worst part is my company cut my tuition re-imbursement this year which will cost me more that I want to think about. I was thinking of the 400 2.8 also but that dream is gone this year.

Perry, get the 200F2, that piece of glass is also worth keeping. I bought it first so my wife couldn't complain when I bough lower cost glass. It doesn't work.

:D 16-35IIL, 50L, 70-200 2.8 IS L, 200L F2.

I went to Calumet once and messed around with a 1Ds Mark III and 200 f/2L IS. Boy that was a mistake I'll pay for in the future :D
