For an assignment I'm working on, I was playing around with an idea of photographing one of my cats looking out the front door. Of the ones I shot, I liked these 3 best. I'd really like to hear some of your thoughts/feedback/suggestions on these.

The cat looks great, but if you hadn't said it was looking through a door, I wouldn't have known. Maybe leaving a bit of door in the photo would help. Some wood grain or something to that nature off to the side.

At first i thought the photos were cropped, but i realized that it was the door and wall to the sides. I like the third one as well.

Number 2 is great.

I wish I had wood grain to include, but my door is a white metal door with recessed panels.... pretty boring on its own (and hard to calculate good exposure). Think I should throw in fake wood grain in PS?

If you've got nothing better to do, I'm sure trying to do so would pass the time. :)

Nothing better to do... HA! Yes I have lots of other things to do (which I'm getting further behind on), but this is more fun.

How's this for a test of adding grain? Better or not?

Your cat is beautiful, it's too bad he / she looks so sad. Like it wished it was on the same side of the door as you.

Thanks... he's a sweetie and a handsome boy for sure. I think he was sniffing the air when I shot that first one, but I did like the expression on his face. This is as close as any of my cats will get to going outside. They're all indoor kitties!

Here's one last one from "the door" session. This shows more of the door so it's a little more obvious what it is. Any other comments/suggestions are welcome!

Nice sharp cat photos. Having the floor in the last image helps a lot. Good stuff.

I wonder why nobody has mentioned it yet. #1 reminds me of The Shining, only with a cat instead of Jack Nicholson. :D Good images in my humble opinion.

I never thought about that until you said it, but you have a point.

This has now turned into a challenge with me and the cats. I came home tonight and shot a few more. Metalstrm, if you thought Shining before, what will you think of one of these?

Do you like any of these better than the ones from before? Different cats decided to play tonight. I have to make a decision shortly.
