ohhhhhh how sad... sending healing hearts thoughts....

That is much to bad. Our thoughts go out to the family and friends.

Diane my thoughts are with your friends and the family :(

How sad.. I've known a few families through the years that have had loved ones pass at home, sometimes naturally but sometimes not. It's never easy when the passing is self inflicted especially for the ones who discover the event. I wish the poor family well during this difficult time.

That is sad Di. My good thoughts go out to them.

Thanks guys. The sister apparently hasn't slept much in a week, and when she has, its been in the arms of her male friends...they've completely surrounded her, which I think is pretty amazing for "popular" teenage boys...especially when the boy really was not popular. :( I just keep hoping that when she does sleep, its a silent sleep...not wracked by nightmares or anything.

CrazieCricket wrote in post #7238215 (external link)
okay now off to sleep for reals!!!

Sleep well!

Best of luck.

I am off for a bit...while I should be cutting diapers and such, I'm simply worn down and starting to feel like I'm getting sick. Not good.

Dianne I'll keep a good thought for the family.

One of my friends that we recently lost was an elementary school art teacher in a city with much poverty and strife. His family was asked to come to an assembly last week where all of the children, almost 600 in total, participated in an assembly for the family. They performed, read poems they wrote for him and told stories and tributes of him. Each child had written the family a note expressing their feelings and all of the children wore his favorite color. while only having been in the school for three years the board of ed voted unanimously to give him tenure so that his family would have his benefits.

Then their neighbors all took up a collection and had a new roof put on their house! Around here new roofs go about 8-10k without having to remove the one that is already there.

Oh man. That is neat that so much good and love can come from such a tragedy. I wish the family that you know peace as well.

Ok, really off now.

Becky, you better post some shots of those roses.

Please.

Here is the thing, when I get flowers at work, I leave them at my office until the weekend so I can enjoy them during the day. So unless I remember to bring in my camera, they may be droopy by the time I take them home in 5 days.

Also, the florist put glitter on them. Do they not realize what glitter does with flash photography.

I wish the Illinois Tollway Authority would raise the bar for just one day and let everyone pass through for free.

They can't, something has to pay for all the signs they took down since Thursday.

apparently I live 4 hours away.

That would put me between 6 and 7 more than likely. I hubby going there to raise wind turbines?

My brother has a Nikon D70 and purchased a Nikkor 50mm F1.8AF. Does this lens auto focus? Doesn't the AF stand for auto focus? We strapped it on and the center AF point glows, but it never focuses.

hmmm....it is an AF lens. I have that. And AF does stand for autofocus. So it should but it's a weird lens.

Tell him to try this: turn the aperture ring all the way to f22 & lock it. Then he should be able to adjust the aperture digitally via his camera and everything including AF should work properly then.

Also tell him to take the lens off and remount it carefully. Sometimes it doesn't mount properly. I've thought mine was mounted correctly and got no af with this particular lens, remounted it and it was fine.
