Also, the florist put glitter on them. Do they not realize what glitter does with flash photography.

hmmm....it is an AF lens. I have that. And AF does stand for autofocus. So it should but it's a weird lens.

Tell him to try this: turn the aperture ring all the way to f22 & lock it. Then he should be able to adjust the aperture digitally via his camera and everything including AF should work properly then.

Also tell him to take the lens off and remount it carefully. Sometimes it doesn't mount properly. I've thought mine was mounted correctly and got no af with this particular lens, remounted it and it was fine.

He was in Auto to initially test it so I figured it should override the apeture. I also did take the lens off and remount it, it felt much tighter than the canon lenses to spin back on, but did appear to lock. I wasn't quite understanding the aperture lock on the lens, and I take it the Nikkors don't have a switch for M/A focus?

He bought a 2nd lens cause a band snapped in his kit lens, they made it sound like it's a normal failure on the lens.

Sneaux!!!
The last one was manual focus, darned branches getting in the way of the AF....

Nice rant Pete. How many blocks of ice did you shave for the shots?

There's gift bingo...people fill in a bingo card with gifts they think the bride is going to get. They watch her open them and mark off the ones they get right.

Or, you make a list of 20 questions each should know the answers to. For each one they get wrong, they have to chew a piece of bubblegum....kind of like the newlywed game.

Okay, I understand the gift bingo...bu what is up with having to chew bubblegum? What is the consequence in that? How can it be a losing thing?

Today is a sad day here for an awful lot of folks. Last week a 15 y/o killed himself and his 18 y/o sister found him. Please send up good thoughts for peace for the entire family. A good friend of mine is a good friend of the family and they're all having a very rough time with this.

That's terrible news. Heartfelt thoughts for the family and your firend.

eddarr wrote in post #7238077 (external link)
Uh oh. No one told you about the bar? Well the bar is when one of your wifes friends husbands goes and does something that makes all other men look bad. Thus continuously raising said bar. You must then immediately do something of equal or greater importance in an effort to be above the bar. Unfortunately this perpetuates the cycle thus putting some other male in the same position of looking up at the bar. It's all part of the grand conspiracy.

Truth.

One of my friends that we recently lost was an elementary school art teacher in a city with much poverty and strife. His family was asked to come to an assembly last week where all of the children, almost 600 in total, participated in an assembly for the family. They performed, read poems they wrote for him and told stories and tributes of him. Each child had written the family a note expressing their feelings and all of the children wore his favorite color. while only having been in the school for three years the board of ed voted unanimously to give him tenure so that his family would have his benefits.

Then their neighbors all took up a collection and had a new roof put on their house! Around here new roofs go about 8-10k without having to remove the one that is already there.

Those were nice gestures of the community to do that. Great story Crissa, thanks for sharing.

Here is the thing, when I get flowers at work, I leave them at my office until the weekend so I can enjoy them during the day. So unless I remember to bring in my camera, they may be droopy by the time I take them home in 5 days.

I'm sure we can remind you many times between now and tomorrow morning when you check in before work to take your camera. LOL!

some lenses have a MA but not this one.

and for some reason, you have to set/lock it to f22 but most you don't.

Like I said it's a weird lens. And it is stiff and it will seem to lock even when it's not on properly.
