Dear Permi,

What the heck does HOCK mean?

signed,
colloquialy challenged

Dear challenged,

Some would say it was the result of combining a forum smilie with a yahoo instant message account resulting in :hock. My advice, ask a cat. You'll get a definitive answer. Probably more than you want to know. Wear plastic.

standing at a distance,
Permie

Crissa, that's good news about your cat. What's a URI. I'd ask Permie but she said she was busy.

Dear Permi

In humans URI = Upper Respiratory Infection, have a feeling it is something else in cats however. Will Google and get back to you.
Sincerely,
Not-a-Vet-at-All

P.S. EDIT - Urinary Tract Infection so why isn't it a UTI?

Yeah, my mind wasn't keeping up with where I was on the computer.

I blame it on trying to figure out the noises in the wall of my craft room, where I was....until I figured out it is a critter....I'm now down in the living room. It was creeping me out. Pretty sure what ever it is, stays back there since there is no evidence of invasion into the room. Funny that I didn't hear it during the day on Saturday or Sunday, only tonight after the sun set.

URI is an upper respiratory infection, they are both sneezing with watery eyes and runny noses. commonplace in shelter adoptions, Puck had one when I first got him as well. *and* tailspin let me skritch him today and even seemed to enjoy it :D

Momma always told me if I have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all....

I most never follow that advice, but should more often. ;)

LMAO. Mama was probably right. ;)

It's like I wrote in an article for our club: The welfare of the animals comes first in the design of a new enclosure, followed by the quality of the visitor's experience. Photographers are way down the list, if on it at all...

I do have to give the San Diego Zoo credit, though. Every new area that they've built in the last 15-20 years has been pretty easy to shoot in. They are getting away from the wire cages more and more. What few enclosures still have wire out of necessity (you don't want to put monkeys in an open enclosure...) have thin gauge wire that is close enough to the visitor that it allows the use of wide lens openings that will put the wire OOF.

I wanna go to the zoo.

This thread is getting really depressing, everyone seems to have dogs to have fun with, so I don't feel left out here is a small menagerie made by the woman who cleaned our room every day whilst we were on holiday.

Every evening when we went to our room there was a surprise in store for us.....

That's a very cool menagerie!! They really must have been talented.
