Crissa cute shots. The first one looks like the background gets yellow farther away. Is it supposed to or is that what you want a background light for? I have been thinking of making a studio for fun. We have a roughly 12x18 foot room I can use.

Got a high enough ceiling and large enough door for the hoofers?

Loosly watching the game. Whats with the hair sticking out of helmets? Been awhile since I watched football but it seems to be the thing. I can't tell what I am seeing on my 100 year old low-def tv. Is that dreadlochs or some sort of braid.

Welcome to the 21st Century, Dood! Where they're flashing back to my days.

B&H have the original 5D listed as discontinued.

So's Canon, for a while. All B&H signifies is they've sold all the ones they had in the back room.

Question for those who are smarter than I. I am scanning all of these old pictures and am running into a minor problem. Seems that some of the paper (mid 60's to early 80's prints) is very glossy and it has a very rough texture. The texture shows up in the scans.

Does anyone know how to make it not show up or how to fix it latter?

Glossy paper with rough finish? Maybe soak it in PhotoFlo (or a laundry softener like Calgon) and scan that way.

The last one was manual focus, darned branches getting in the way of the AF....

Poor Robin! Looks cold! Better put out some extra suet.

I envy you that!

SORRY GUYS - HE DID IT AGAIN :D

Just got a dozen red roses.:D:D:D Curt has raised the bar.

Big deal. We have flowers, we have sneezing fits. Ann's quite happy with the small bits of metal with pointy ends I offer up as occasions merit. All right, they come with back-clasps and tend to be gold or silver. Since she's always being told by strangers that they so admire them (in my hearing), I guess they're acceptable.

FuryMe wrote in post #7238517 (external link)
My brother has a Nikon D70 and purchased a Nikkor 50mm F1.8AF. Does this lens auto focus? Doesn't the AF stand for auto focus? We strapped it on and the center AF point glows, but it never focuses.

Don't the low end . . .

Permagrin wrote in post #7239045 (external link)
That's correct. The D40 is a way scaled down camera (sorry) and it doesn't have an internal AF drive. Not all lenses will AF on it.

That. Does the D70 actually have the body motor?

FuryMe wrote in post #7239103 (external link)
I just don't know what to say about that....

Quoted for posterity.

This thread is getting really depressing, everyone seems to have dogs to have fun with, so I don't feel left out here is a small menagerie made by the woman who cleaned our room every day whilst we were on holiday.

Every evening when we went to our room there was a surprise in store for us.....

Actually, it will take me a bit to type it up, and I'm going to go get something to eat first. I'll tell all in a bit. ;)

Let's just say that I wish it had gone better, but some good stuff came of it. :D

And earrings. And pendants. Mostly celtic-style (there's a reason I have the TR character I do . . . )

For one day? Comes pretty close to what Timbernet did after a several-month absence or my September catch-up MMQ. I say it's a record! And she couldn't do it any place else but here!

A better description would be dimpled similar to a golf ball. I'm not sure if it will show up but here is an example. You can really see it in the darker areas. I think what is happening is that the spherical shape of the dimple is reflecting the light from the scanner as the head goes by.

I think the texture lends it character, Eric. It makes it so I know what the photo actually feels like. I like it.
