I gave blood today.

I got really nauseous afterwards, and got the red bag of shame draped over my chest.
Nice first experience, eh?

Caitlin goes as often as she can, I think she has donated 10 or 12 times now, and is only 20. I had donated 28 times before the leukemia, but they won't take my blood now because of the HepC.

I think it is a great thing for people to do, that and get tested for bone marrow compatibility. I likely used a couple hundred units of blood myself.

He did not realize that not letting a mother see her child before emergency surgery could have cost him his marriage let alone his life. They had to completely reconstruct the one side of her nose and she's fine.

A friend took me to the hospital and I was there when she woke up.

Ow, Ow, Ow...I've bumped my nose pretty good a few times, fortunately never broke it, can't imagine how painful a break/crunch must be knowing what a good bump can do.

So did this happen after you promised to "Love Dan Forever"?;)

Very glad you were there when Little woke up. I'm sure it meant a lot to her. Wonder what she thought seeing you with Dan in a headlock though?;)

:lol::lol::lol:

I can't give blood. I had typhoid when I was a kid....hehehee spreads disease and filth wherever I go.......seriously I can't give it and that's why. Must stay in your blood or something.

I can't give either. My veins are the same size as the needle needed to extract blood. Takes forever to get a pint provide the vein doesn't pop first. The blood bank finally said thanks, but it is too difficult and suggested they didn't want to cause too much scar tissue in case blood needed to be taken for emergency purposes. Guess I could be called a "turnip".;)

:( Poor things. Lets hope the antibiotics get right to work on the nasty bugs.

Congrats on giving blood. I am a life long donor so I hope you keep up with it. However, what is the red bag of shame?

BTW, you can offset the dizzies and maybe the nausea by drinking a couple of glasses of water and maybe a little OJ as well. Want to keep your fluid levels up and over hydrate.

A biohazard bag in case the nausea went too far. I dubbed it that after the lady looked at me and asked it I was ok, I told her I was nauseous, and she hollered over for a "Red bag, please! Quickly!"

Next time, ask them for something to drink DURING the donation... I've heard it helps others. I had dinner a couple of weeks ago with a group of women who meets once a month, and the new girl so to speak was the blood services coordinator for our area. It was something she mentioned to someone during dinner.

G'MAE all... I'm exhausted... up late last night on the phone... didn't sleep well... was up early enough (4am) to make a certain wake up call hehehehe... and wasn't able to get back to sleep before 6 when I got the boys up... then got them off to school, got myself and my gear together and headed out to Dan's.

We were out and about all day, got back in time to go get boys, hit the house for a quickly cooked not very creative dinner for the boys, and then off to hand bell choir rehersal... then home, boys to bed, me on phone again... and just now getting to sit down, catch up here after catching up on emails from the day!

WHEW... and I haven't even downloaded my card yet! Sheeeeeeeesh and I'm so not sure that's going to happen tonight.... I'm feeling kinda tired!

I just have to say... if they keep me playing the bells I played toinght... I'm gonna have mega muscle arms!!!!! I played 3 of the biggest bells tonight! YOWZER! My arms got a work out and I sore! I'm nervous though we have our first performance since *I* joined coming up in a couple of weeks...

I'm busy juggling a couple of schedules and looking at trips to Charlotte... Life has suddenly become wonderful and a tad complicated too... but I'll take it without complaint!

They're 2 and 5...thanks guys. Its just harder on me to stress out about them, I think...than it actually is on them. Toddler's fever was about 102 at the office today, hopefully we can keep it down overnight a little bit....they're watching both of them for signs of "worsening" asthma. :( They'll be alright though...and hopefully I can avoid getting sick in the meantime too.

And EEKS!!! Augmentin is the "big guns" for ear infections, isn't it? I hope he feels better really soon too. :(

Good on you :) I used my modified school ID, that said I was 18, to give blood when I was 16. I went to lunch right after and came back to typing class where I passed out.

I actually took the day off. I had off Friday too. Friday was supposed to be a field trip, however the delayed opening nixed that... so they had to move it... and then I just decided to take today off one to go shooting but TWO because I wanted a 4 day weekend!
