I forget how old she was....2nd or 3rd grade I think. Anyway she was running across the playground to say hello to a favorite teacher (I think) and a boy was running across at cross paths...because the bell had rung (she'll probably come on and correct this all). Anyway, they crashed ...Tif led with her nose......the school called us. We only had one car so Dan had to come home from work to pick her up. He took her to the doctor and I stayed home with Gus. (who was very young)....Anyway at the doctor, they told him that she'd need immediate surgery...bone chips everywhere...so what does he do? He NEVER CALLS ME...he had meant to pick up some oil for the car so he stops at the car place picks up the oil, takes her to the hospital...WAITS TIL SHE'S IN SURGERY and then called me. Didn't come get me...nothing.

He did not realize that not letting a mother see her child before emergency surgery could have cost him his marriage let alone his life. They had to completely reconstruct the one side of her nose and she's fine.

A friend took me to the hospital and I was there when she woke up.

Awwwww poor lil nosey.

I can't give either. My veins are the same size as the needle needed to extract blood. Takes forever to get a pint provide the vein doesn't pop first. The blood bank finally said thanks, but it is too difficult and suggested they didn't want to cause too much scar tissue in case blood needed to be taken for emergency purposes. Guess I could be called a "turnip".;)

I haven't donated in years... Ever since the one time I gave blood and had to take a day off work to recover. When I was in the Navy, I have to have diving physical annually. Part of that was drawing blood. The corpsmen used to love me because I had huge veins. One even said he could have drawn the blood with his eyes closed, my veins stood up so well...

Can anyone recommend a good Verizon phone. I don't need to get online. I have the LG Chocolate right now and don't like it at all.

Both of us have the LG EnV. We traded our Motorola phones for them because we wanted phones with a full keyboard for texting. The call sound quality isn't as good as the Razr I had, but it's acceptable.

Next time, ask them for something to drink DURING the donation... I've heard it helps others. I had dinner a couple of weeks ago with a group of women who meets once a month, and the new girl so to speak was the blood services coordinator for our area. It was something she mentioned to someone during dinner.

G'MAE all... I'm exhausted... up late last night on the phone... didn't sleep well... was up early enough (4am) to make a certain wake up call hehehehe... and wasn't able to get back to sleep before 6 when I got the boys up... then got them off to school, got myself and my gear together and headed out to Dan's.

We were out and about all day, got back in time to go get boys, hit the house for a quickly cooked not very creative dinner for the boys, and then off to hand bell choir rehearsal... then home, boys to bed, me on phone again... and just now getting to sit down, catch up here after catching up on emails from the day!

WHEW... and I haven't even downloaded my card yet! Sheeeeeeeesh and I'm so not sure that's going to happen tonight.... I'm feeling kinda tired!

I just have to say... if they keep me playing the bells I played toinght... I'm gonna have mega muscle arms!!!!! I played 3 of the biggest bells tonight! YOWZER! My arms got a work out and I sore! I'm nervous though we have our first performance since *I* joined coming up in a couple of weeks...

I'm busy juggling a couple of schedules and looking at trips to Charlotte... Life has suddenly become wonderful and a tad complicated too... but I'll take it without complaint!

When I was in High School I played the hand bells for the Church on base. I always got the large bells too. There was one song that I had 6 bells to play, the biggest one of which was on the first, second, and fourth beats (and two of them were really tiny bells, but the director gave them to me to play, since the other person was not reliable in her attendance. Glad to see you happy again.

Diane and Chet, hope the kidlets get better soon.

Hi Robert. Volunteering is going well. It is a long day, but I had fun. {SNIP}

How are things going for you? Hope your road trip goes well.

Nice that the volunteer stuff is going good.....how nice of the trainer to let you do some special stuff. :D

Hard to tell how the trip is going to go on the first day, a couple of speed bumps, but nothing too big.

I broke my nose, again. I had an unplanned meeting with a horse head today. It made a pop and now feels even more crooked at the thinest portion of septum. I can't wiggle it and it is aching. It did not gush blood or blacken my eyes like usual so maybe I just sprained it.

Ouch! Hope you do better.

cfpackerfan wrote in post #7285280 (external link)

I have a few shots of something that may interest some of you. It is a monument 5'000 years old (yes, 5'000). It is a very moving and impressing place to visit. Especially when you think of the way they built it (see what is in bold below...)

See the little "box" above the door? This is where the light is coming in. The inside passage goes slightly upwards so that in the center you are above this opening...
Here, you can see the monument in the field above the farm...

Great rant Didier.....I like the history of the shots you posted up lately....in the last few days.

Becky N wrote in post #7286704 (external link)

Yeah....^^THAT!

BearLeeAlive wrote in post #7288870 (external link)
Have the 3 of you (sans Cat) got together? There are not too many in my neck of the woods that converse on here, though the POTN members I have met locally are all great.

About 5 hours between us....though, I plan (again) on going to some Ranger games up there in Arlington and visit some friends while there. Maybe that's a chance to get togeher.

Guineh wrote in post #7288894 (external link)

Kids sick are no fun, I tried to put bringing him in until today. But I'm glad my wife convinced us to go to urgent care yesterday.

Hope kiddo is doing better....sick kids are no fun.
