Well, there are two sides to the equation here. How do you know the problem is on the Toshiba side? 8)

Do yourself a favor. Don't buy a Toshiba. every single Toshiba notebook I have encountered has had some problem or another.

I'm not shopping for a laptop but we had our last toshiba last for 3 years and then got a virus, we wiped the hd and now our daughter has it with no issues.

Its raining and freezing here over about 4 inches of snow from early morn.Andys in Portsmouth NH thats why I was wondering he is due back Thursday

The roads will be cleared up nicely by tomorrow....our snow has stopped already now, and is turning into a nasty slushy mixture...but he should be fine tomorrow morning.

Portsmouth NH, not too far up the road from here. There is an absolutely fantastic place to eat lobster near Portsmouth that we love to go to....

Cool!! What program did you use to do the video? (I love that Minnie had the last word, lol)

Believe it or not, I did that with Windows Movie Maker. Yeah... That little freebie that's part of XP. I'm guessing it's probably part of Vista, too. I'd have to dig out my laptop to verify that, though. I couldn't believe how easy it is to use, yet it's so versatile. It's still lacking in some areas though, so I'm looking around at other options. But, for now it'll do. I whipped that all up, pieced together from seven separate videos I shot with that little cheapie Flip thing I bought a few months ago, and it only took me a half hour to edit it all. That included the time it took to learn how to use the software...

That little Flip camcorder exaggerates every single vibration, though. So, I jumped on a bargain from woot.com last week for a hi-def Polaroid camcorder that has image stabilization that should do much better for me. It's out for delivery on a FedEx truck as I type. Funny thing is... The Polaroid, with two 8Gb SDHC cards that I ordered separately, cost me less than that little Flip toy-like thing.

In Yahoo, if you accidentally use forum smilies (which I do) and type in : shock : it gives you a confused face, and says 'hock' . It's become a new way of saying

Ah... I geddit. I never woulda known if I didn't ask. I'm logged into Yahoo all the time, but I don't use their software to do it...

Ah, Windows Movie maker is what I use to edit my little Olympus clips that I've been posting on YouTube. It's a great little program. (And yes, it's on Vista too)
You can use it to edit songs too... I've used it several times to do that.

Many Thanks for all your birthday wishes, we had a great day exploring the interior of the Island (picture will follow) followed by an excellent meal and a few bottles of wine it is now 23:30 and I am heading off to bed to prepare for a visit to a sunken Japanese fishing trawler at 08:00 hrs in the morning.

Once again thank you for all the birthday wishes xxxx

I didn't know it could edit songs, too. Interesting... I'll have to delve deeper and see what else it can do...

But, I'm so afraid right now! This new interest of mine in video couldn't possibly be good for my bank account's future...

It'll change in time.

Off to home.

Exciting news though: I got the unofficial request from the Junior class to do their prom pictures. No $$ up front but the potential to make a bunch. :D
