Am I the only person who does NOT like the new healing brush tool in PS4?
I hooked up the program over the weekend, and so far, have been resorting back to CS2 to do my skin retouching because I hate the damn healing brush tool in CS4 so much :(

:(

It was new in CS3 and it's great. Are you sure you're using it properly?

Well I'm using it the same way I was in CS2, I think its throwing me off that it has the shadowed image? hmmm.

I maybe be wrong (still at CS3 myself) but in CS4 isn't it supposed to be showing you just a ("non destructive") preview of your work until you confirm you're happy with it?

Do you have "create texture" checked in the tool bar at the top when the tool is selected? (should be off for most healing)

As far as I can tell, there's no difference in it between CS2, CS3 and CS4.

you can turn off the overlay preview inside the brush circle. there is a button up at the top options bar on the right. uncheck the overlay box towards the bottom of that popup.

I hate it too. It's the the preview thingy that bugs me either. If that were the case, I'd just turn it off. It used to work beautifully. It worked JUST like the healing brush, except that I chose the source. Now it works more like the clone tool. It doesn't blend as good. It's really touchy about matching highlights and shadows. I'm extremely frustrated with it. I feel your pain.

The code for the healing brush was unaltered in CS3 and CS4

What the hell are you guys talking about?

Pictorian, are you referring to the patch tool?

I think the healing brush, and all healing brushes including the stamp tool for that matter, are unchanged from CS2.

I just upgraded as well. So far I have not had a problem with it. But you have to know when to use the clone stamp, healing brush, or the patch tool. None of them are perfect for everything. But each is great in its own way.

I have cs3 and it works fine for me. I agree you have to know when you use which tool.

I found it takes a little getting used to also. I have not tried turning off the overlay option though.

I have not tried turning off the overlay option though.

I still use it like I did in CS2: Press Shift+Opt for overlay ;)
