AHA! I think I may know your problem. In the brush options menu, set the spacing to 1%. I guess when CS4 installs, it automatically sets to a higher percentage. This frustrated me to no end until I realized what setting was messed up (I guess there was an end)- I have actually never purposely used a greater spacing and have yet to figure out a good reason to!

Healing brush *doesn't have* spacing. Airbrush does. (And stamp tool)

Default spacing is 25%. Always has been.
There's a reason for that:
(This is airbrush; 50 px brush, softness 0 and 100%)

I to think its a great tool. I tend to use clone on little opacity and flow, works just as good, If it becomes to much i use the healing brush over the top of the clone. I find i get much better results.

SMDEVO answered this issue, just have to un-check the "show overlay" box in the Clone Source window.

Took me ages to find, and has done my head in with the overlay since installing CS4, it's really off putting if you're working fast.
