I am primarily a wedding shooter-- so fast low light glass is what I need. I am thinking of adding a 16-35 to my bag--but not totally sure it is worth it. Is there anyone out there who loves it?
Here is my typical set up for weddings - 5D and 35L and MkII or MkIII with either 24-70 or 70-200 -- depending on location.
I was thinking that the 16-35 would work better for ceremony--- on the 5D -- they use the 35L for creative b&g shots and the reception. Any thoughts?

I use one on the 5D for party and night club work.
Unless you need the widest end of it I feel its a little short. I think the 24-70 is a better all arounder and keeps you from having to be on top of people when shooting tight.
Its a great lens and has many great uses though. I guess trying one would tell you if it fits your style. I love it but I always find myself wanting more reach.

i have the 16-35L II and i love it. on a 1.3 crop like your mark III it would be a brilliant wedding lens :D.

At the last wedding I attended the pro photographer heavily used a 17-40L on a 1Ds2. I wouldn't be comfortable using that setup but then I don't like to get right in the face of the bride and others. Can you just rent one to check it out?

Love it; my favorite lens now and the last to go if I had to sell. I agree with Ed, I'd leave it on the crop body and go to town.
