Hello folks :)

I'm lucky to be in Florida for the Daytona 500.

Can you tell me what gear I am allowed to take in?

Many thanks.

If I remember correctly, I do not think any bags are allowed in, coolers only big enough to hold a 6 pack, however they cant stop you from having anything around your neck :)

As long as it is a clear bag that the security can see in you can take a bag in. They will sell clear backpacks at the NASCAR store there but high priced go to a WalMart and get one cheaper. I have a mesh backpack that security can see in and I carry camera, binoculars and long sleeve shirt and pants in case it cools down to much at night. Going to my third 500 and can't wait.

Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated. I'm looking forward it a lot. Never been to one like this - in fact only ever been to one race - F1 in Belgium '98.

I'll look around for those mesh backpacks and I suppose I should limit myself to a 70-200 + 1.4x and maybe a 50 1.4 in my pocket.

Cheers!

Sounds like fun. I went to Daytona last winter, but there wasn't a race at that time unfortunately. I used the 28-135mm and got some decent shots. There is a cool museum on site too, but it costs a little bit.
