Portrait of my wife and kid

Here is the first one I posted in the people forum (rather than the lighting forum). I think it turned out OK, but I am very open to suggestions. This is using 2 lights (main and fill). Main light is behind a diffusion panel and the fill is with an umbrella.

Cute picture, but it seems a tad bit underexposed to me.

This is a good picture but i agree underexposed easily fixed in photoshop but better to nail it in camera. Bump up the power of the main light or open up a few stops.

OK - thanks for the advise. In the studio, I stopped down more than what my meter told me because in the lcd, the shots looked too bright. Of course, I did bring up the exposure in LR2, but I guess it needed more. And...I guess I ought to trust the meter.

Use the image in the LCD only for evaluation of the composition 'cause the LCD will lie to you every time! The histogram is a much better choice for a tool to evaluate the exposure and even that has it's issues.
