Just thinking. Would it be worth upgrading to the 50D from my 40D.
For those that have made this upgrade let me know what you think.
Thanks.

Do you have both cameras? I do and there is a lot of difference, particularly with noise at 1600 and 3200. The 50D is clearly better in that area.

Just out of curiosity. Is there a reason (or reasons) why the 40D is failing you whereas the 50D can drastically improve? If there is/are, then by all means, make the upgrade: +5mp, microadjust, high rez lcd, wider range of iso. Julian

I think you should hold onto what you have and save save save for what's next to come. The 5DII is a beautiful piece of electronic goodness but it's version 1.0. Just imagine what's to come later this year. With Nikon randomly spilling rumors about their D400 and such, it's definitely going to encourage Canon to release a 60D or a completely new line of camera bodies. I pulled the trigger and bought two "Version 1.0s" in the last year and paid for it when both companies released new/better versions that were coming out. 5D & 30D| Canon 16-35ii f/2.8 L USM| Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM | Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L USM | Canon EF 100 f/ 2.8 Macro USM

Advantages of 50D over 40D are: 1. 50D has MUCH better LCD. This is a really BIG deal for me. 2. AutoISO on 50D is working WELL, on 40D it almost doesn't 3. Higher ISOs - 6400 and 12800, sometimes are VERY useful. 4. 15mp vs. 10mp. 5. 50D has Autofocus Micro-adjustment - REALLY useful thing. 6. Better "from camera" control for external flashes of II-series on 50D. 7. Better LiveView, with contrast autofocus and face detection. 8. Useful button "Print" - turns on/off LiveView! That's an advantage??
