Hey guys...........this is kind of weird question but I have a photo here that was taken by my brother's hunting camera up on our property here towards the Sequoias. There is an object on the left side that appears to be some sort of animal or ??? Chupacabre? The camera shoots when motion is detected and this is the only one of this object, the rest were all identifiable animals. Can anyone here work the photo over a little to possibly make the object a little clearer so maybe we can tell what the heck it is? I'm not experienced enough to do this type of post processing. Please Check it out ...............

If you have the original RAW file I can recover a lot more data.

No, see that's just it.......all I have is this jpg file because my brother had his hunting camera set up there at this place where he put out some bait. It just shoots when it sees motion. We do have some other pics where you can see really clear but they are animals like bears, deer, bobcat, fox, squirrels, coyotes. He is really trying to get some wild pigs there but so far no luck. Maybe when we check the camera again this weekend we'll have some more of this creature.....whatever it is.

Here a photo taken during the day. This is obviously a hog, but it is taken at the same location so this gives you an idea of the size of the creature in the other pic.

Hi ya BKG,

If the camera triggers on motion it must have been entering the area from the left of camera which prolly means it's the front of the animal we're looking at, eh ??!! I've had a quick crack at editing it but can't get anything clearer than what perryge came up with.

Bloody hell this is exciting !!....:)

I remember a few years ago when they thought they had a motion camera shot of a moose in Fiordland, here in N.Z. Moose were certainly introduced here but never flourished. On the contrary, they (supposedly) died out within a a few decades. The last one was shot in 1953 by Percy Lyes who also obtained the last photo taken of a live animal. Since 1953 there has been unverified reported sightings and even droppings, hair and massive browse line heights but nothing ever definitive. A few years ago a few avid "believers" gained some funding and set up a series of motion cameras. Over a period of some months many many photos were taken but only one could pssibly have been a moose. A bit like your pic, it was on the edge of the frame, a rooten exposure due to the miserable day and also blurred. They dissected it over and over and had truckloads of experts look at the photo but no one could say with certainty that it was indeed a moose.

Sorry, off on a bit of a tangent there.

I'm dying to know what this thing is !!!!!

Matt.

Kinda looks like an owl. Birds are great for triggering trail cams.

Very interesting thread! Could this be perhaps a common animal? With these cameras they shoot when they detect motion and in this case it could possibly be a bear or something that moved in front of the camera. Wouldn't the camera shoot more then one frame of this creature? If so then it could be one of the Identifiable creatures you seen that day.

At any rate this is one interesting creature, whatever it is!

It looks like an owl in mid-flap, maybe just grabbed dinner, heads up, wings are down and tail is flared.
