Is that normal? I know I need a cleaning soon but would like to know someone else's opinion.

The more you stop down, the more you will see the dust that is on the sensor. Completely normal

Completely normal and easily/cheaply correctable. Any decent search will uncover multiple threads here and elsewhere discussing this in detail.

Just get something like the Delkin Sensor Cleaning kit (has a great scope in it) and a Lenspan (Sensor cleaning pen) and a Rocket blower.
With that arsenal you should be able to get _anything_ off the sensor without damaging the sensor (unless you're a klutz) (actually the IR bandpass filter surface...you aren't cleaning the CMOS sensor itself).
You should be able to
Blow it off
Wet swap wipe it off
Squeegee smudges off with the Lenspen SensorKleer pen.

But don't freak...dust comes with the territory of DSLRs and you'll become a pro at it in no time.

Lotsa stuff, running outta room and a wife...I keep looking at her and wondering???

Its a nightmare on a 5D when using the MPE 65 stopped down! You see EVERYTHING!
