This morning in the Fly South with the Birds
workshop, we traveled to Viera Wetlands. I didn't get a lot of flight shots but did get some nice stills. All are taken with the 500 f/4 handheld, except for a couple with the G10.
It was foggy when we arrived, so I took this Cooper's hawk with some fog in the background.
Male and female anhinga on a nest:
Great blue heron sitting on a nest. I thought this was cool with it surrounded by palm.
I found a couple of cooperative loggerhead shrikes, and using my best bird stalking technique I was able to get quite close.
This is actually my favorite shot of the day. While photographing the blue heron above, the sun poked out of the clouds and creating some really surreal light. I love all the reflections and the lighting with the clouds. This is straight out of the G10. Can you find the blue heron in this photo?

Here's me on an observation platform. The camera at my feet belongs to one of the other workshop participants.
