Very nice. Do you have the moon your left? Have you tried auto stitching in CS3?
We have also had bad weather so far this winter. But hopefully it will improve in February and March!
Same here, lots of cloud. The moon doesn't rise anymore up here, actually. It's not so much a great time for northern lights in some respects as the foreground isn't very well lit, but then again it's a great time for the lights themselves - they appear more saturated and colorful. On the left, in this scene, there is a small reserve of houses (about 10) about 5 kms to the NE which is where the orange light you see is coming from.
It was amazing aurora weather, in this shot, sadly natural terran weather was bad - it's very cloud up until sunday in this region for a large chunk, so says the forecaster. However, in the mornings its very thin .. unfortunately that's only at 8-9 oclock that it gets that way, and that means sunrise. Hopefully clouds will go away a little bit and we'll see some nice greens and reds.
I tried out auto stitching, and actually the image in my flickr to the left of this one in the gallery is done in auto stitching. I prefer images to be manually stitched and composited together, however, it renders more accurately because I know and remember where certain elements of the photo was...and the computer crops A LOT if you don't align your shots perfectly with a good ballhead or 3D pan tilt head specifically made for panorama landscapes. I like the ballhead for its versatility and it becomes very rigid and solid in the winter (the grease/oil inside freezes) However for things like macro I've found it to be difficult, at best.
