World Cup Ski Jumping

We just had the world cup ski jumping at our new facility up here in Whistler in preparation for next years Olympics. I arrived a little late so I was pretty far away and even with the 400mm things still weren't as close as I would have liked.

Nice color and exposure, but unfortunately that's all I can say. I know it's different if you are standing between other spectators, or if you are on the hill with proper accreditation.... But for me, proper ski jumping photos are cropped tight.... very tight. For example like this (external link) or like this (external link), or a bit wider crop (external link), but this one has something else there ;)
But as I wrote... unfortunately it's impossible to do such photos, if you are standing down between spectators and don't have access to hill.

Those photos make it look so easy, but it's not when the jumpers are going by, or coming at you at 80 - 100kph! (50 - 60mph)

Its nice im surprised the 400 wasnt close enough
