Hey guys,

I am in Salt Lake City (actually Orem) for work and will have some downtime to go take some pictures in the next couple days (dont fly home till friday afternoon).

Does anyone have any good advice for locations to get some good landscape shots? The mountains here are beautiful and would love to get some good shots. any other ideas on locations for any type of shooting would be cool too :)

Thanks!

How much time do you want to drive? You could drive to moab, sleep, shoot arches, sleep in moab and drive home.

Hit the bonneville salt flats for historical purposes

Hit a ghost town near Ely, NV

or go to a bar in Salt Lake and order a beer and take a picture of yourself with it. Remember; they won't even offer a second until you COMPLETELY finish the first. AND you have to order food to get alcohol.

Have fun.

Not true. You probably went to a resturaunt where you do have to order food with alcohol. There are alot of fun bars in downtown SLC where you can drink your fill you just have to look.

My advice is get out of Orem and get above the inversion which is really bad lately. Go up one of the canyons they are all great. Downtown Salt Lake is also fun to walk around and snap pics.

Thats for the tips!

I ended up driving and walking through sundance and park city... I got some pretty good shots except my CCD was dusty and I was caught with no way to clean it off :(

The Bars you are refering to where you can drink your fill... they are actually private clubs. you have to buy a membership for (if I remember) $5 that covers yourself and upto 7 friends for 3 days. its the way to get around the law... the law also limits the beer to 3.2% alcohol... which is even less than a miller lite in the rest of the country. again this is how the "private clubs" get around these laws :)

Yeah the private club thing is just something you have to deal with living in Utah. Along with buying wine and liquor in state run specialty stores only.:(

Glad you ended up going above the inversion. Park City is nice this time of year. Come back soon just don't forget to bring your own beer and sensor swabs.
