Hard to believe that Fly South with the Birds
is over. Instead of joining the rest of the group for the afternoon, I decided to head out on my own to visit the eagle nest again. Unfortunately the sky was mostly cloudy and I never got that perfect late afternoon light that I was hoping for. Guess I'll have to save it for another time. These shots were taken with the 100-400, which felt like a toy after holding the 500 for three days!
This is one of the adults keeping watch over the area while the other is off hunting at the lake. The sun popped out for a brief moment so I thought this made a nice scene. Plus it gave me something to do while standing on the side of the road for 3 hours.
The other adult came back with some sort of bird. I can't figure out if it's a coot or a small heron.
