Still kind of soon to tell.

The good news is... my 7D is finally back in my hands after two months of wait (includes actual time spent in the service center and have someone to bring it back). The thing that sucked was the work area around the tech who inspected my body and lens is probably not very clean. I saw a few specks of what appeared to be dust inside the lens (I sent the 24-105 in to have the zoom ring tightened). Doesn't show up on my photos, so I can care less for now.

Anyone trying to get together soon other than the Garlic Fest?

Just looked at the rules & regs for Outside Lands...saw that no "Professional still camera equipment (no detachable lenses, tripods, big zooms, or commercial use rigs)" is allowed.

...balls. :(

Only way in for gear is a press pass and they've yet to begin accepting applications for them yet. Last year they had a really early deadline to submit for a pass (sometime in early July) but it's already July

At the Garlic Fest?

*EDIT* Never mind, just saw you guys were talking about Outside Lands in SF. Have any more information on that festival, I've never heard of it

Here's their website. http://www.sfoutsidelands.com/ (external link)

It's a pretty large event held in Golden Gate Park usually over the period of 3 days but this year it looks like only 2 and the lineup is no where near as strong as it was last year.

Yeah, i'd never been before (usually out of state at the time) and was excited to be in town this year...but then I looked at the line-up. It's really lacking this year. Probably won't be going. Hopefully next year will be better and I'll be around to see it.

Does anyone know where will the 4th of July Fireworks take place this year? I'm trying to find it, but no luck.

For SF, don't they shoot them off one of the piers?
Or a barge out off of aquatic park?

Of course with budget cuts this year, a lot of towns have decided to not have a fireworks display.

I kayak out under the Sausalito fireworks every year. It's really easy to slip past the police boat cordon and get right up next to the barge, so you're essentially looking straight up at the fireworks.

It's pretty awesome.

Apparently Pier 39 is advertising you can see the SF 4th of July fireworks show from Pier 39 after a full day of events.

I've seen this as part of the search, but where will I be watching if I decide to bring friends over there?

If you're at that event, probably wherever you are watching the concert from.

I went to the pier 39 fireworks two years ago and was fairly dissapointed. There was no standing room 3 hours before the show and the fog rolled in so you couldn't see anything.

Hey folks, taking the prettiest creature alive in all of christendom to fireworks, and I do not wish to dissapoint. Is Livermore show the best? Pier 39? Kind of last minute plans, but there is nothing worth looking at in San Joaquin County, and I really can't mess this one up.
Thanks!!
Ok, I will check back in with you guys later.
Thanks for playing Cupid !!

Mario, I'll only tell you if you promise to bring your new significant other to the BBQ at Dwight and Marna's house. :p

The fireworks from Pier 39 are usually pretty good. Not sure about Livermore.
There are so some really good ones at the Martinez waterfront.
If BenIcia shoots them off as well this year, you will be able to view them both from either side of the Benicia bridge.
