We shoot whatever, wherever. There has been some recent talk about Hawk Hill off of Conzleman Rd in Sausalito.

I've met quite a few POTN members through a few different meetups.
One in Monterey, one in Buellton (there's a link in my sig for the next one), one in Golden Gate Park that I set up, and one in Yosemite that I set up.

There will be more. Keep your eyes peeled. And keep watching this thread.

Welcome to this little corner of POTN. :)

One is Sacramento also if memory serves.

Oh wow....! So beautiful! I was visiting there in November, but it was raining on the day I had scheduled to tour around San Fran, so not too many pictures were taken... this is spectacular! :)

Care to share you camera settings just for the "learning"? :)

So I just stumbled onto this page...

Im from San Francisco and its nice to see a page dedicated to my local spots.

Welcome!

Hey any of y'all here about the solar eclipse that's happening this Sunday? My buddy and I want to go up to Tahoe and look at it.

Next question is... how do you do shoot a solar eclipse haha?

[GIFS ARE NOT RENDERED IN QUOTES]

Oh nice find thanks :)

I'll make sure to study this before my trip. Do you know what are things to watch out for?

Should I look at the eclipse through the viewfinder if I have a solar filter on it or should I look at it via the LCD screen?

Is anyone else going to be shooting the eclipse?

I think it would be best to look through the LiveView on the screen. Just to be safe.

I am going to see what I can capture. Not sure if I'll still be in Chico or back home by the time of the event. Hopefully not still travelling lol

Two things I know about solar eclipses.
1. when looking through the viewfinder and especially when using a telephoto. It will burn a hole through your head.
2. Unless it is a total eclipse, you might lose your sensor if using live view. They say in the manual I think about changing lenses and exposing the sensor to direct sunlight.

There are ways to properly photograph it and I'd look them up before biffing up your sensor or eyes. If using a wide angle I would imagine there are no problems since you normally get full sun into your shots anyway.
I've shot sunsets with my tele and live view.

And yes Tom, thank you for the reminder. One also in Sacramento. How could I have forgotten?

Sure thing! It's actually two images stacked together.

The Amgen Tour of California visited San Francisco on Monday! I shot this at the Neutral race start at the Marina Green. I was lucky enough to get a spot which had a view of the Golden Gate as well.
