Well POTN, that is a question i have for all of you!

Is your significant other into photography as well as you? If so, do you guys ever argue about photos, cameras, gear, set-up styles, anything?

See, my girlfriend is into photography as well as me. She is into it alot! She is more 'artistic' when it comes to photos as compared to me who is not soo much artistic.

For her, a good shoot is dressing up some models in some vintage clothes, and heading into a downtown to shoot some pics. Or having a 'themed' shoot. She doesnt really care about all the diff lenses and what not and is not into editing a lot either. She is more about the artistic quality of her pics more than anything i guess. I LOVE her style! I LOVE it alot! But at the same time, i find that we seem to argue about things.Today i told her i was thinking about looking at a fisheye lens. I love city photography and think sometimes fish eye lens's give a neat look with big city buildings. She was disapointed and told me "not to get sucked in by them"...haha...and that i shouldnt get one! I was like "its my style, i wanna get one if i want". She said she isnt stoping me from buying one, its just not how she would shoot things...haha

So its not like im telling her how to shoot her pics, or she is telling me how to shoot my pics..it just seems like we always bicker about photography! Its all in good fun, and we dont ever get mad at each other about it, but we do have little fun arguments! haha...

We dont have all too much in commen when it comes to our hobbies except photography, so sometimes the only hobbie we do have in commen, we cant go out and enjoy together too much cause of our totally diff styles!! hahaha

I was just wondering if any of you guys bicker with the ones you care about who are also into photography?

.Chris.

My problem lies in not having a significant other to argue with.

I always loose the arguments about photography. She learned from me when we first started going out 7 yrs ago. She found my old Pentax P-3 and wanted to take pics with it.

I got tired of paying for processing and told her we should look into getting a dSLR....OMG was that the wrong thing to say.

She did research and we got a 20d...and we had to get a lens. We got a 100-300 canon to begin with.

She wanted a longer lens....So we looked for it on ebay and cragslist,...Found a "Good" Mirror lens 500MM for about $150....Well this is where we found you should not go cheap....If the subject was farther that 6ft away you could not even tell what it was.

Things progressed and she now has a 1dm2 now...that is in the shop. I baught a 40d last weekend and for some reason.....she has it. I can never fugure out how the girls get all the good stuff....

We talked about it last night. This is her problem. I just got into photography. I liked it before i meet her, but wasnt serious about it. Now that i meet her, adn she is serious about it, i started to get more into it to. She has a 50D, so i picked up a 20D and started shooting.

Well, this is what she said..haha..

She is like " I know this is gonna sound really immature but...For some reason i find you as like 'compition'. IDK..your starting to get good at photography, and i feel like you are starting to get better than me at some kinds of photos."

She is worried that i will like 'steal jobs' from her...hahaha

She is a photography major, i just shoot for fun..haha

I was like "Never worry about that..at all! I never plan on taking a job. I just shoot for fun"...

Idk..haha..i think its funny that she kinda thought that way.

We talked about it again today..and she just kinda laughed about the fact that she did think like that for some reason. She said it was prolly because she was lacking sleep...idk..haha

Still, kinda a funny topic i thought..

Ok...Not to put you down or anything....Grow some balls and go for what you want.

I know Tasha has more talent than I do, I am a stupid carpenter, and I know it. But if you really want to do this go for it!!!

See, im take pics for fun! I dont plan on having a career or money from it! I kinda feel like since im SOO picky about my pics, i couldnt imagine charging someone to take theirs! I just think i wouldnt think they were good enough to charge..hahaa

But this could be me talking now cause i still have TONS to learn to really take good pics...haha

I mean, if i think im pretty capabile of taking pics for people, and they wanna pay me..ill do it! But i just really dotn see it happening. I just shoot around for fun..hahaha

Thanks for the advice though! I really do appreciate it! I do!

Im not scared of her anyway....hhahaha.. (i say that now cause i know she is not looking)

My "other" is actually the one who got me interested in photography, he was into it long before we met and had a lot of film SLR gear.

Now I'm the camera freak of the pair  He still shoots, but not often, and uses a small digital p&s, while I shoot as much as I can and have a bucketload of DSLR gear. We do talk about photography but rarely argue.

And the best thing about it? I have my own willing sherpa to carry my heavy gear bag around ;)

hahaha.. Thats realy neat how that all worked out!!

My GF jsut said it was weird to all of a sudden have me be just about more into photography than her now! Cause i spend tons of time reading on this site, and checking out lenses and all sorts of stuff!! haha..

She said it is just somethign that was always 'her thing' and now she has someone to share it with. She said she LOVES being able to share it with me..but at the same time she had to get used to it! Exspecially cause we have two WAY different styles of shooting..haha

Oh, i too get stuck carying the photo gear just like your guy! haha...

Although, i dont mind it. Cause she has nicer glass than i, so i snag the nice glass when she isnt looking...hahaha....
