I heard the D3 takes MUCH better photos of stuck pixels than the 5DmkII or 1Ds3. D3x is supposed to be even better. It's true, I read it on Ken Rockwell's site.

I hope you supported his sponsers so he can feed his family LOL. Hes such a tool.

You need a tripod and should pick up Understanding Exposure asap:p

Okay, I was able to do this, however, I find that on my particular EOS body, the hot pixels are very soft, where can I get a sharper body cap so that I can make these out better? Or do I just bump my lens cap aperture to f/300 or so? I can't use my pinhole lens cap lens, because then I can't see the hot pixels. This is very frustrating.

Now leave Kenny Rocklestein out of this...he's good people :D

Pictures of stuck pixels and lens caps, now that's science!

Hahaha

Well actually, as a desk top editor with virtually unlimited access across my work's servers this might not be as daft as it sounds. The shear crap people who aren't aware or mindful of such things as HUUUUGGGGGEEEEEEE image file sizes who upload the entire contents of their camera cards, including glorious multi MB 3000 pixel images of nothing is frightening  Even the completely out of focus, useful for absolutely nothing pictures simply left unsorted (or subsequently deleted) makes me frown. Some people genuinely are a bit useless when it comes to a reasonably basic understanding of how it all works, and i'm far from being an expert :)

Wait until I send Ken Rockwell my 5dmarkII video with the lens cap still on... What's the D3/D3x got on that?

Should I use a filter with the lens cap when shooting under these conditions?

I lost my lens cap, so I have an opportunity to shop around for another. Has anyone made image quality comparisons between a 55mm Canon lens cap versus the 55mm Sigma lens cap?

3rd party lens caps are awful. I had to send my 77mm cap into Sigma TWICE before it would fit my 60mm macro lens.

You should get a Hasselblad cap, I hear they are good.
