Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that here in Kansas farmers are working on a new breed of genetically engineered chickens. As newborn chicks, these chickens automatically peck at any hot pixels, and have been found to be able to remove 99.9999999% of the hot pixels on any camera sensor. They haven't hit the market yet, but when they do, the trade name will be. . .

"Pixel Peepers"

LOL

By the way, can't i use a light meter to get better lens cap [on lens] shot? what f-stop i should choose?

I've had good luck with this:

1. Tripod, f/22, ISO 3200, LiveView on, AI Focus, remote trigger
2. Make exposure
3. Use the Print function on your camera
4. Scan photo
5. Post pic in the Lens Cap Sample Archive
6. Wait for validation and praise

YMMV

d.

I know that most of you are looking for praise for these shots (and there are some masterpieces), but I noticed a couple of problems.

Some of you need grid viewfinders to keep the pixels properly aligned. Nothing detracts from a photo more than pixels that deviate from horizontal alignment.

I also noticed that someone (who should know better) is actually using an EF-S lens cap on a full frame camera!

Actually, this is one of the funniest threads I have seen in some time.

Oh and hi. Virgin POTN'er here.

Welcome to POTN!

It's a sad state of affairs that a POTN newcomer stumbles across a thread like this, but let's make the most of it:

For most forum members, you are required to photograph a duck and post your results. But, for this thread only, all you are asked to do is put a cap on your camera, and using the best techniques that you are able, take the shot and post it!

But, expect C&C to follow so we can help you to hone your skills:)!

I think there will be artistic bonus points awarded if someone shoots a duck with the lens cap on, and then posts it though. :)

Oh and hi. Virgin POTN'er here.

Geday from New Zealand, good thing all the threads are not like this, eh? :)

Just a bit of fun to confuse newcomers, and in repudiation to a post above somewhere, it is easier to get your compulsory duck shot (which I have still to do, cannot find the official duck thread ;) ) if first you find a duck, then take the lens cap off, if you have not lost it already

Ok I tried shooting a Duck with the lens cap on and something very weird happened. I'm not totally sure but it looks like a 1971 Yamaha Mini Enduro showed up insted. Does this mean if I take a shot of a 1971 Yamaha Mini Enduro I will finally get my Duck shot?

Thanks for your help in advance and I love this forum!

Should I be bouncing my flash or using a diffuser here?

You would get much better results if you took an off-camera flash or strobe and directed the light squarely into the viewfinder. The light will then bounce around and try to reflect some interesting effects into your image, but if that fails, will happily direct those effects into your eyeballs!

I think this would be a useful scenario for the macro twin flash setup! Just don't shoot wide open, or in the event you have a Sigma lens, the front focusing will throw the pixels out of focus and I'll have to strain extra hard to find them, and that's no fun! ;)

Just a guy with a few photography goodies that challenge me anew every day! ;)

Last thing I heard was that there was a mixup in manufacturing and a batch of the Canon 1971 Yamaha Mini Enduro CMOS sensor chipset was used, when in fact they should have been using the Canon 2008/2009 Hot Pixel Guaranteed CMOS sensor chipset. Please contact your local service center and ask them to replace the sensor, they'll be happy to help you if you just explain the above to them.

And, as already mentioned, please do record the call and let us know how it went. :)
