So I decided to do an "environmental" portrait. Not so much 'outside' as environment, but more of the 'working' environment.
what do you think?

"A photograph never grows old. You and I change, people change all through the months and years, but a photograph always remains the same. How nice to look at a photograph of mother or father taken many years ago. You see them as you remember them. But as people live on, they change completely. That is why I think a photograph can be kind."

Exactly! The person should be the main subject, with the environment being the background. And they are usually not supposed to smile either. I did a working study on this sort of photography - it's hard to get used to, but really fun once you get the hang of it. You want the background to expression what their face normally would. It's a different look at the person really. A lot of music portraits are done in this manner. I think that this image is a nice image, but not exactly an environmental portrait. You need to see the person to start with. visit my website -> http://www.nicolepfeifferphotography.com

airfrogusmc I'm a chimper. There I said it... More info | Well it would depend on what the photographer is trying to say. Here (in my opinion) the person isn't as important as the fact that they are a photographer which is what this photograph is about. Its about performing the act not the actor. So in that regard I think its successful. Now if it were about the individual then you all would be right. I feel its a photograph about the verb not the noun. Just my 2 cents...
