Took a little work to get this shot how i wanted it. Lots of light pollution. I have another with a slightly different perspective/framing that I'm still working on. I used exposure bracketing and loaded 9 images in a stack using Photoshop. Edited in Lightroom. Had to do some noise reduction too.
Taken at 55mm, F4, ISO 800. Wish I used a lower ISO and more spread on the bracketing, but I think it turned out okay.

Would this be better suited to the landscape forum? If so I'll move it.

Nice! The foreground really helps, I think. The shot I took, all the foreground was, was my neighbor's house and a bunch of trees. I like yours way better.

Naw, it's fine where it is. I should have looked a little further past the landscape forum to this one before I posted my moon shot.

Best,

Michael

Thanks for posting this. As I stepped outside at about 7 last night I was struck by how clear and beautiful the sight was, even with the ubiquitous NYC light pollution. I was hoping someone on the East coast caught this. I'd love to see others' shots, too.

I saw this last night on my way to class and cursed not having my cam in the car. I went out later to try to capture it but no luck, I did get a nice crisp shot of Orion tho.

If this is from last night I got to see this also, the moon was RIGHT at the horizon as I was driving to the gas station. It looked like it was 100 times it's size as happens when you have something to measure it against. It was a golden orange color and venus was just up from it... I wanted to have a photo of it SO bad. I was hoping someone on here could have seen something similar!

It was out of this world!

Make sure you post this in the "Sword of Orion" monthly challenge thread here. It complies :)
