This could have been so much better. The image in the top left its really noticable, it looks as if the image is shimmering, I suspect this may be coma or some other aberration with the canon 50mm f/1.8 II lens. I did stop it down. Then again, there could have been an problem while stacking. Its also dirty, and yes, it is over processed, but I figured why not?

Here is a stack of 8 x 2 min exposures plus 8 x 2 min dark frames. With the help of Noels actions and other processing, this is what I come up with

Interesting...I get a very similar thing with my Canon 50mm f/1.8. May I ask what you stepped it down to please? I've only ever used mine so far at f/1.8, and the results are quite bad really. Your image is great.

Excellent shot. The only optical issue I see is lens distortion at the edges and it really doesn't have a huge impact on the image. Great job, very cool.

I stopped the lens down to F/4
