You should note that it's in illegal copies of Photoshop CS4. Maybe it will show down the software thieves a little.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the 600 Adobe employees who lost their jobs due to poor sales of CS4 are responsible for writing these viruses. Couldn't blame them if they did.

Why? Do you think CS4 is that bad?

A Mac virus/trojan/hijacker comes out and it's news - there are thousands of infected Windows files being shared and it's par-for-the-course. I'm highly skilled at detecting and removing such things from computers and I won't touch pirated software. 571ck w17h 4 M4c

I am old enough to remember when Virus's first started to become a problem, they found their way into the consumer market via pirated software shared around on big old fashioned floppy discs.

No, because the trojan is only in illegal copies of CS4. Given that Photoshop still remains one of the most stolen pieces of software despite Adobe's best efforts, that is surely a factor in Adobe employees losing their jobs due to poor sales. So I couldn't blame someone from specifically targeting the thieves that helped to lose them their job with a virus that they deserve.

Actually I think CS4 is clean, its a keygen program that generates a serial number and activation code that has the trojan in it. its still an illegal copy though.....

If I was going to look at Adobe employees I would look at current ones not ones that were let go. I could easily see current Adobe management wanting to put a stop to illegal copies.....although I could also see why an employee that was just fired would want to go after pirates as well.

I could also see why companies that sell virus software would want to create trojans for macs, what an untapped market that must be! All of these stories I'm reading sound like an ad for "Intego VirusBarrier X5"

Again I say HaHaHa, to those thieves' who got infected. Hope their credit card and bank account info was stolen. These software thieves are the reason we struggle with copy protecting hoops(loosing keys when you upgrade PCs...). Not to mention the additional price we all pay for software, because of the copy protection costs.

And like above, thats 2 recent Mac trojans. I don't think anyone even counts Windows trojans/viruses :) Trojans are the easiest form of malware to avoid. Don't steal software. Don't install random crap you find on the net, instead buy/download from the Author. Don't enter your admin password after clicking on an e-mail.

think that is a totally irresponsible comment. That’s like saying“ I’m glad all the people who invested with Bernard Madof lost everything”.I don’t subscribe to pirated software that I know of. I am not very computer savvy and pay to have most if not all software installed. If the IT guys claim to be legit and use listened software I tend to believe them.
I lost my dell hard drive to a virus. So I guess I deserved to lose a bunch of stuff and a hard drive? If the adobe people planted that worm they should be out of work if not jail. With that said if you think I deserved what I got, A big $$%& you to you.

I think you're misunderstanding. Your unfortunate virus was probably caught through not being as computer savvy as the people who wrote the virus and not being properly protected. Avoidable but not really your fault.

The virus discussed here is in illegal copies of software/applications used to steal software. It's not something you'd get by accident, you'd have to be stealing and know you were stealing and as such would deserve whatever you got.

what i'm saying is" what if the guy I hire is running illegal copies of software and I dont know ". still not my fault but i lose in the end.I think anyone who corrupts the software is just as bad as the people who steal it. the government should go after them both.

How's that? Totally not a relevant comparison. The people who invested likely didn't know he was doing something illegal, most were purely victims. The people who steel software know they're steeling software, they are equally as bad as the trojan writer. And, yea I hope they lost something because of it. They'll never get caught or prosecuted for being thieves, so its nice to see some justice.

If someone who works for you steels software, and you loose something because of it. It sucks for you, no doubt, your are a victim. Would you fire the person who lost your data, and was a software thief? I would. And if they were a 3rd party, I'd turn them in for being a thief. No where did I say you deserved such. And I condemn the virus/trojan writers as well, but karma is still fun to watch.
