No pay raise, no more paid overtime, 401(k) match suspended, and I just found out I'll have to take one week off each quarter. If the last one hasn't changed by the third quarter, I'll be out of vacation and have to take no pay. I work for an automotive supplier, so things will more than likely get worse. Luckily I bought my camera last year. :)

Well, were using VTO, or Voluntary Time OFF to help reduce costs. Ironically, production is behind, so taking off just puts us further behind! Also, the company has decided that four day work weeks are good.

Now, I too have time for photographic endeavors!

Same thing here in Michigan--but part time work with benefits in MUCH better than no work at all.

Fortunately I have been blessed to not be affected by the bad economy. Job security is there, though...at one point having to pay the gas to get to the job was getting to be a pain in the butt. Luckily, I made it through...gas prices are coming down. Though, big ol Exxon begging for help while earning a record breaking profit doesn't want me to be content with filling up my pickup on only $38 dollars instead of $90.

they've asked us to start bringing in our own toilet paper as a cost cutting initiative.

This is typically the slow time of the year for my job. But because of the economy we have been busier than ever, for this time of the year.

I live in the "Energy Capital of the Nation" and have seen no change in the economy. We have been in a big boom and will see what the next few years have to hold.

I wish that I'd taken the position with Exxon in 1988.

Even Phillip-Morris would have been fine.

In the US, we've outsourced far, far too much production while importing far too many professionals.
