Hey guys, well I have the XTi with the 55-250mm IS lens but I want another lens for shooting things other then sports. But I am stuck on what one to get. Can someone help? I want to shoot close-ups, landscapes, people/objects in the city, etc... You get the jiffy. And I have around a $500 budget so keep that in mind. Thanks so much and let me know!!!

Well the 18-55IS lens makes a great companion for the 22-250.

But would it give me the crystal clear quality like some of the higher end lenses can?

You have a ton of options. Here's several decent options:

1- Canon 18-55 IS and 50mm 1.8
2- Tamron 17-50 F2.8
3- Sigma 18-50 f2.8 macro (good closeup ability)
4- Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4.5

55-250 is fine for people in the city. 18-55 is boring imo. Why not get a UWA (10-20/10-22/11-16) for the landscapes and architecture shots?

I think you need to ask yourself just how good/sharp/colourful/blurred you want your pictures to be. If you want top quality then you have to pay top money but there are loads of lenses out there that can do a decent job and are reasonably priced.

Well I can always get more money. So I guess money isn't too big of a deal. But thing is I am 15 and so I don't have cash "flowing" so I can't really go out and buy 2 amazing lenses at one time. So that is why I come to you pros because I was hoping you would be able to sway me to my next purchase.

And I am looking at the 17-55 or the 27-70 but I don't know if there was something else you guys would recommend...

IMHO the 17-55 is the finest walkaround lens you can get for a crop camera. It is to crops what the 24-70 is to full frame. Fast, sharp, and outstanding IS. Well worth the investment.
