I noticed the 35mm f/2 is out of stock at B&H, Adorama, and J&R...could this mean Canon is coming out with new version?

No it likely means they ran out after the holidays I'd say :D

But that said, it would be awesome to see a refresh for those dinosaurs..

not that they're bad lenses..just VERY dated in build and mechanics

Canon lenses have been on backorder in the UK for a while now too. I just think there is a short supply at present.
