I've read the other threads and researched around, but haven't really come to a clear understanding of which is best.
It seems like the two most frequently mentioned ones are the Spyder 3 & Eye One Display 2.

So these two:

&

From what I could gather it looks like Datacolor has picked up their game with the Spyder 3. So it seems that both these products should yield basically the same results.

Am I correct in my assumptions our am I looking at it wrong.
I don't have a lot to spend on this, so the cheaper the better. However if the Eye One is the much better buy, then I have no issue with it. Also, if I've over looked any feel free to post them on up.

Thanks for the help
Bob

I use the Spyder 3 Pro and it's fantastic - I don't feel any need to have gone the Elite as the Pro does precisely what I want.

Thanks Jim. The 3 Pro sounds like it would work for me as well.

Let me ask this. Is there any reason why someone would want to get the Eye One Display 2 over the Spyder 3 Pro?

The reason I chose the Eye1 was that at the time it got excellent reviews and did not break the bank.

But the world moves on, newer products come on the market and choices widen. I'm a firm believer in any calibration is better than none.

Thanks you guys.
I'll most likely be ordering the Spyder 3 Pro tonight.
Any more opinions would be great.

The feature set of the Eye One Display 2 is a more "equal" match with that of the Spyder 3 Elite package, and they are relatively in the same price range.

If the Spyder 3 pro will do everything you currently need, and the small savings makes that much of a difference, then go for it.

One last thing, the Eye One Display 2 ships with a rebate form in the package that if I remember correctly is good for $200 of any of their (X-Rite) higher end packages.... just something to think about for the future.

I did a little research on this also, and I decided to get display 2. I have a wide-gamut monitor, and for my particular monitor [dell 2709], the display 2 allegedly is the better performer - especially in some of the wider colors. I have the spyder 2 express, and tried that on this monitor - and I was unimpressed. I do sort of believe people when they say that display 2 is better on wide-gamut monitors, so I am personally going in that direction.

I have not received mine yet, I just got CS4, so I am spacing out purchases to spare the card, but I do intend to soon upgrade to display 2.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies you two.
I can't seem to remember, or find out if my screen is a wide gamut screen.
I'm using a Gateway FPD2485W.

Money is really tight, but it seems like this isn't the part to skimp on.

Thanks for everything
Bob
