I had my first shot at HDR today. Went to the Cliffs in La Jolla and post processed with Photomatix. This is what I ended up with:

Wow, pretty clear day huh? I grew up in San Diego, and surfed many mornings down around that area. Sadly though, now that I live in Australia, those beaches don't "do it" for me anymore. Your shots are great though, and that area will always have a draw for me.

Thanks for sharing.

2, 3, and 4 look they have been oversharpened and/or overprocessed...artifacts are very prevalent in each. As far as the HDR, my guess is that you took a single image of each and then created an under/over for each? Nice area, though...I spent a lot of time there while living in San Clemente.

These were created with 3 exposures each, -2, 0, +2 exp. Given that these are HDRs, they are suppose to have a "overprocessed" look to them. I even toned down the "HDR-ness" during post processing.

Thanks! Yeah, it was a beautiful day yesterday day and it's shaping up to be a pretty nice day today also.

I was referring to the oversharpening artifacts...the tiny white pinpoints prevalent throughout the images. In the end, all that really matters is if you're happy with the images. Just my 2 cents, FWIW.
