Obama's first presidential portrait. (external link)

According to the article, the photo was taken with a 5d2.

Why wasn't it taken at ISO 25600? No point in having a 5D II if you're not going to.....

That's the link to the large version of the photo. Shouldda captured it in HD video and posted on vimeo, IMO.

BTW, I despise all you 5d2 (and most likely 1ds3) people. The amount of detail captured in that photo is just ridiculous. And don't even start on the better viewfinder. :P Someday... I will join the FF gang.

Haha, while the EXIF may say no flash was used, I'd argue otherwise. I take it the Engadget guys weren't thinking about off camera flash much.

Maybe he couldn't afford strobes after that 5D II, had to use some old hot lights.

I wonder if Obama asked the photographer not to retouch the photo.

I can see lint or dust on his jacket. ;)

Nice portrait by the way. I like the lighting!

Canon 5D Mark II takes the first (Obama) presidential portrait

The short article also says it is the first presidential portrait ever taken with a digital camera which I find surprising and/or hard to believe.

I usually don't get wrapped with these comments but I tend to agree.

The first ever 'official portrait' by the official photog. 4 or 8 years ago I doubt the quality was considered good enough compared to a MF neg.

btw, already posted twice.

Also says it was taken with no flash and using 105 FL. Oh, my! A presidential portrait, no flash, using a (probable) zoom lens! We're violating all kinds of rules here!
