Let me explain what I am trying to do. I have a set of Adorama Flashpoint II monolights that can be triggered by another flash, or via cord. I have a 430ex that I want to use as a background/hair light in conjunction with the monolights. I need to be able to wirelessly trigger the 430 so that it triggers my monolights. Another on camera flash is not going to help at all.

Cybesyncs are cool but won't trigger the 430ex.

What is your budget?

PocketWizards are best, but pricey. Cybersyncs are very good and are much more affordable. Skyports fall in the middle.

DDCSD mentioned only the radio triggers and not even all of them. Here are a couple more options:

There is the Canon 580EXII wireless trigger and, amazingly, it can also work as a speedlite (more powerful than your 430EX).

There is the Sigma EF-530 DG Super which is much like the Canon 580EXII, but a little quirky. It's a wireless trigger and a Speed-lite all-in-one as well.

There also is the Canon ST-E2, but I would not recommend it.

Canon 40D; Canon 70-200 mm f/2.8L IS, 17-55mm f/2.8 IS, 85 mm f/1.8; 580EX II; Sigma EF-530 DG Super; CyberSyncs

Cybersyncs would be great - please tell me how I connect them to my 430ex. From what I read on the website they do not have a hotshoe adapter. And the 430 has no PC connector.

I was thinking of this:
http://www.flashzebra.com/hotshoes-shoes/0065.shtml (external link)

and one of these -
http://www.flashzebra.com/opticalslaves/0100.shtml (external link)

And THEN get the Cyber Syncs to trip my studio lights and that would trigger my 430 with the flashzebra attachments..... Hate to waste money though. Anyone know if that would work for sure?

Thanks!

I use the Skyports and am very satisfied with them. I have never had an issue with them not firing. Except when I forgot to turn them on. They will work fine with your 430.

If you go the CyberSync route, then get the 065 hotshoe adapter for your 430EX, but why bother with the optical trigger? Why not just by another CyberSync receiver?

With a 065 hotshoe adapter, why won't a CyberSync receiver trigger it? I use them to trigger the speedlites in my sig.

You got it!

On a side note, the optical slave that you linked to wouldn't work with the 430EX. You would need this one for most EX flashes.

I use Skyport as well and it has never fail me, fires both Speedlite and SB-xxx but not the Nissin flashes which has a built in optical sensor but can only be triggered by TTL on 622, the 488 can be triggered by TTL or Manual. Skyport cannot detect TTL from the transmitter.
