I have read multiple threads claiming that only Canon can get actuations on bodies other than 1 series. Here is a link for a utility to get actuations on these bodies (plus 450d and 1000d). Has anyone here used it?

I have not tired this yet and cannot comment if it works.

I always want C&C on my shots.

It worked great on my 40D :) (Although the actuation count was higher than I wanted)

Apparently I've been dubbed Foxy.

It does produce a result with my 450D, but the number is about 3000 actuations higher than the file numbers would suggest the camera has taken... Maybe I'm overlooking something though...

Interesting! 22 more than the file numbers.

The link to this utility has been kicking aroung POTN for a while now and the consensus seems to be it works OK but only for cameras having DIGIC III and IV processors.

Sorry to post this again then. I did a search and did not find anything other than "can't do it" replies. I realize now that I was looking for my 5d, not the 40d.

5d is still no go, correct?

Unfortunately you are correct. The 5D has the older DIGIC II processor so is still a no go for checking shutter actuations (other than sending it to Canon that is). Still, we can live in hope.

Correct, the original 5D doesn't work.

The 5D Mark II works with some peculiarities.

Wasn't' working for my 50D and then I realized I was still using the eos utility program loaded on for wife's 40D, upgraded and the shutter count worked.

Just used it out of curiosity, shutter count is at 32485. About what I expected. :)
