cleo, glad to hear the camera and lens are in good shape. Had a problem with one package, ( my 24-70 L lens ) the box was damaged but the lens and packaging canon uses did its job. The lens works great and it stays on my camera most of the time. I only use ups. As for fed x it took them eight days to find my house and i paid for next day shipping. So i guess it is the luck of the draw. pos

Brrr... I hate the cold

I hear you, Cleo. New (meaning additional & unpaid) job responsibilities take me out to a job site daily. 2 feet of snow behind the house we are building hiding all kinds of lumber & who knows what else. Yuck. Every other night its 45 minutes pushing the snow blower up & down my driveway. Getting too old for this crap.

Because I'm an idiot. Seriously - I have two young children - one who is sick - it was enough for me to open the door and sign. I have NEVER had an issue with UPS... Will NEVER do that again. Although I'll likely use FedEx in the future.

FedEx Home Delivery forces you to BE THERE to sign for anything, not merely leave the signed tag on your door with instructions to leave the parcel at the door...that or drive to the FedEx Home Delivery pickup location (which is NOT necessarily the same as the FedEx general location). I hate FedEx Home Delivery more than I hate UPS!

I would have refused the package...

This is why I buy my gear in store.

I don't usually ship FedEx but a vendor I used did. They left a box from a jeweler on my porch under the mat. Under the mat! The box was 3" thick, it's obvious there was something under there!

My wife was home, they just didn't knock loud enough.

But it was under the mat out of sight! Nobody would steal what you cannot see . You are lucky the vendor did not specify live body signature required. Or they could have tried to deliver the package to the unoccupied house next door and left a delivery attempt tag (while you are at home waiting for that package!) -- It happened to me!

Shipping boxes get thrown, kicked, karate chopped all the time behind closed doors so I don't see what the fuss is about. I agree the UPS guy was being a jerk, but are you really surprised? I've had UPS guys leave expensive packages in my front door, signature required and everything. Rain, snow...doesn't matter it seems.

Yep. I was surprised. Never had a box arrive like this before. And I've purchased A LOT from B&H in the past. Sure, I hear horror stories here all the time. But that doesn't mean I have to accept it.
