Hi all. Some of you might remember me, but I used to post in the urban forum alot. I've been doing a lot of portraiture privately these days but now and then I step out and do some of the photography that got me started. I'm at a point with my photography where I can be genuinely happy with a shot regardless of it's reception, but hopefully you like these at least a little bit nonetheless ;)

Anyway,

Hope everyone is well and getting a lot of satisfaction from their own endeavors

I like the one on the left Rich, nice work. Good to have you back. Or is this just a short stay?!

Thanks guys. I'm really liking number one as well but wasn't sure how that one would go over. Good to see some people saw something similar as I did when they looked at it.

Adam, hope to be sticking around more. Looking to pick up a new lense which'll work nicely for alot of walk around shots so I'm thinking you'll probably see me kicking around a bit.

The one on the left is brilliant - great effect.

What you after? You been shooting portraits with 5D and primes recently I guess? I'm attempting to raise funds for a 35L at the minute, not easy especially with Canon price hikes pushing used prices up.

Yeah lots and lots of 5D and prime shots lately. Wonderful setup but it's a really different experience to kind of coax a shot out of a subject with portraiture and to go and find a shot in an urban setting and I'm finding that some urban shots are giving me a chance to recharge my creative batteries.

Rambling aside, I'm going to be picking up a 100 2.8 Macro and start doing some really small scale urban shots. There's alot of interesting detail kicking around that's too small to really fill an entire frame with a regular lense that I'd like to start exploring. Should be alot of fun

Sounds good, I look forward to it. I'm after the 35L so that I can provide a different perspective on things, get bored of the standard zoom lenses sometimes!

Real nice shots there Rich. Equally as important, Real nice post. Thanks for sharing. It's nice to get an introduction from a senior member for those who like me have a lot to learn.

That lense is supposedly wonderful. I miss the convenience of zooms now and then (I've done event photography with one camera and prime lenses, that's exciting) but love the images you get from a prime.

Thanks Tunneruk. After a while you get competent enough where there's not alot to focus on as far as shooting better images, and you start directing your effort at taking better pictures instead. I guess it's like moving on from *how* to shoot to *what* to shoot. It's a fun transition to make :)

Good stuff, Twitch.

Thanks a bunch guys. It's an old abandoned plant in Toronto and one of the most wonderful places I've ever seen. I spent more time with a friend exploring than shooting, but I'd like to go back and focus on pictures for a day.
