I've posted other images of Katie the past few years...Katie was a shelter dog we got in 2000 when she was a year old--aussie/golden mix. She was considered close to 'unadoptable' because she was so shy originally. But with just a bit of love and affection, she became the best dog I've ever known--so easy going and easy to please. She was incredibly smart (once let me know that the cat got out when the garage was open, and once let me know the oven was still on after I was in bed!--when she'd snort, nudge and smile, it meant something wasn't right), a smiler, and had a very empathetic nature. She became sick and died suddenly in a matter of weeks over Christmas--the night we put up the tree, actually.

I just wanted a memorial for her here with her photo friends and fellow dog lovers. We miss her lots, as do the other pets in the family, but I'm so glad I have all the photos I have! Sometimes it seems like, "Do I REALLY need another photo of my dog?" Well, yes, I'm glad I took them all!

Thanks for looking

Katie loved being in out in the snow:

and warm and cozy in the house:

The smiler (that's what the vet called her)

She wasn't shy in the shelter; she was just waiting for the right person to come along who would 'get' her! I'm glad you did.

Thank you for sharing the photos, she certainly looks like a very sweet girl.

It's always hard to lose such a loving friend, but you must feel so content in your heart that she had those wonderful years with you.

Very sorry for your loss.

What a wonderful, kind, loving face. I definately can see why she got the nickname of "smiler."

I just want to thank you all for taking time to post. Pets and photography are definitely a great match--they pose for us over and over again without complaint, and then we have the wonderful memories where they're gone.

You guys are all fantastic :D
