Upgraded my mount :)

I bit the bullet and upgraded my current Atlas. I have always been in love with the Losmandy G11 and finally bit the bullet. I was able to trade (Plus Cash on my end) the Atlas for a Like New G11. It has the upgraded clutch knobs, polar scope, aluminum motor covers and an unused HD G11 Tripod. The mount was used about 5 times by the previous owner. I have already dropped my left nut on this thing as I went and ordered the Ovision Worm and worm block upgrade for it as well as 2 23lb Stainless Steel Casady counterweights. Everything should be here sometime next week :) I'm chomping at the bit. Here is a shot of it from the guy I bought it from. Once the ugly Losmandy counterweights are gone it will look fine and dandy ;)

Congrats Bobby, looks so familiar. It's a great mount for the money and easy to work on. I've had mine apart more than I can count for fine tuning (bit of a perfectionist and determined to get the most from it). I cleaned all needle bearings of factory lube and did a relube with higher grade grease. I also upgraded the RA worm gear.

You'll appreciate those spindle clutch knobs for tightening things down. If you don't pier mount this or end up using it in the field you might want to use only two of the three knobs used to secure the mount to the tripod and use the factory allen screw in the third spot. No matter how hard I hand tightened all three of them there would always be some wobble. So I used the allen head screw with a ratchet to snug things up in the front spot below the counter weight in your photo and it's rock solid.

Looking forward to seeing it all put together. The Casady weights are beauties.

Yikes! I just googled that mount and they start at $1995.00! But I am sure they are worth it! Just like the big "L" lenses!
